2020 personal reflection

In order to move on we've got to process what we are leaving behind. The last few days of December is a perfect time to reflect on 2020. I truly believe, this has been the most disturbing year so far in our lifetime (referring to Millennials mostly) on a global level. A lot has happened and we surely have more than ever to go over and understand the personal impact. Let's not miss a chance to draw some significant conclusions which can truly help us set the intentions and goals for 2021.

As a Style Coach, analysing and reflecting upon my own life as well as helping my clients do the same as regards to their style but also life in general, is a big part of my job. I saw how impactful asking the right questions and writing down our thoughts can be; this is why I will share with you my own reflections of the last 12 months and I invite you ask yourself the same 5 questions to get clarity and gain a better perspective on your actions and what has taken place.

QUESTION 1

WHAT ARE THE 3 BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENTS THIS YEAR?

Acknowledging and celebrating small and big wins is absolutely crucial in boosting positive outlook on life, appreciating yourself and realising that we have actually managed to achieve certain things despite the challenging situation!

My 3 tops achievements

  1. Passing my driving test at the 1st attempt with only 2 minor mistakes - yay!

  2. Maintaining a very healthy and active routine which helped me stay fit - well done, seriously!

  3. Going back to my passion - relaunching my business but in a more informed and organised way - wohooo!

QUESTION 2

WHAT ARE THE 10 THINGS YOU ARE MOST GREATFUL FOR?

Gratefulness is something I heard about long time ago but only truly started practicing it this year. I have a daily routine of writing down all the things I feel grateful for that day; my diary is full of notes on things which I have appreciated in my life. As Seneca said "Nothing is more honourable than a grateful heart" so this question in particular is very important.

I am thankful this year:

  1. for starting yoga and that it became part of my life bringing some amazing changes in my body and mind

  2. for immediately organising myself when the lockdown started which led to my decision to relaunch my business and follow what I am passionate about, ultimately living more authentically

  3. for growing even closer with my partner and that this pandemic has not affected our relationship in a negative way

  4. for all my family and friends staying healthy

  5. for my amazing new clients who trusted me to help them on their style journey

  6. for going on a beautiful holiday to Cyprus and spending over 2 weeks with my family, especially my mum, in Poland

  7. for all the creativity, energy, drive and strength that pushed me to work hard every day on what I consider my life mission

  8. for having stable income that has not been affected by the pandemic

  9. for truly embarking on a self-love journey and grasping what it is about

  10. for listening to my body and giving it as much rest as it needed

QUESTION 3

WHAT ARE THE 3 MOST IMPORTANT LESSONS YOU HAVE LEARNT?

  1. It can be as bad or as good as we think - our thoughts and attitude truly create our reality!

  2. I am extremally hard-working when I do what I love!

  3. You cannot control everything in your life but you can control how you react to absolutely everything!

QUESTION 4

WHAT IS THE 1 THING THAT YOU WOULD DO DIFFERENTLY & WHY?

I truly feel I lived this year as best as I could and I am proud of it. There are however, couple of things I would do slightly differently for sure. The purpose of this exercise is not to drawn yourself in regrets, but rather to take a lesson and remember that, if in the future something similar happens, it is worth taking time and reconsidering what we do/ say.

So if I could turn back time, I would have planned my work over summer in Poland in order to spend time with my sisters, nieces and my mum. At that time, other things took priority and I had not planned it ahead of time. Now, I really don't know when time like that will be possible so that makes me think that if an opportunity like that happened again, I would have planned it better.

QUESTION 5

WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU WANT TO KEEP DOING IN 2021 & WHY?

Wow that's a tough one for me as there are so many things I will be taking with me! I hope you feel the same and if not, maybe it is worth revisiting questions number 1 and 2 to realise what we loved and did well.

The one thing that is surely coming with me onto 2021, is my work to help as many women as possible gain style clarity and learn to dress with confidence while expressing themselves in an authentic way.

I hope this exercise will help you end this year in a way that fills you with self-love, gratitude and hope!

Happy 2021!

Ewelina
